Rammed Earth in the work of Antoni Gaudi
ICOMOS (the International Council on Monuments and Sights) drew our attention to a paper from the International Journal of Architecture Technology and Sustainability called
“Rammed earth in the work of Antoni Gaudí. The entrance pavilions to Finca Güell in Barcelona (Spain)”
“The pavilions of Finca Güell in Barcelona, designed and built by the architect Antoni Gaudí between 1884 and 1887, are unique examples of his use of the technique of lime-crusted rammed earth. This is the only work built by the Catalan architect using this constructive technique, a little-known fact barely publicised to date.”
